HHS Proposes one-year Delay of ICD-10 Compliance DateOn April 17, 2012, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published a proposed rule that would delay, from October 1, 2013 to October 1, 2014, the compliance date for the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition on diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10).
January 1, 2012 HIPAA Compliance DeadlineJanuary 1, 2012 marks the compliance deadline for use of the new version of the standard electronic HIPAA transaction. "Covered entitiies," which includes physicians who conduct any of the transactions name in HIPAA electronically are to begin using Version 5010 starting January 1, 2012.
